Specialist support without the travel

Feelspace CARE explores how remote specialists and wellbeing professionals can be brought closer to aged care residents through life-size presence.

Access can be the challenge

The right specialist may not always be nearby. Travel can also add complexity for residents, families and care teams.

Transporting an older person to an external appointment can involve vehicles, escorts, waiting rooms, fatigue and disruption to routine.

In some cases, the problem is not the availability of care itself. It is the practical difficulty of reaching it.

Bringing expertise closer

Feelspace CARE is designed as a delivery platform for remote specialist consultations and wellbeing support, with the professional appearing life-size.

The concept is simple: instead of moving the resident to the professional, bring the professional into the resident's environment.

That may create a more comfortable setting for some consultations while reducing unnecessary travel.

Where the platform may fit

Potential uses could include specialist consultations, mental health support, chronic condition reviews, medication-related discussions and other appropriate remote health or wellbeing services.

The exact use should always be determined by the provider and relevant professionals.

Feelspace is the presence platform. It does not replace clinical governance, professional judgement or existing care pathways.

Supporting, not replacing, care teams

Feelspace CARE is intended to complement existing clinical and wellbeing pathways.

On-site nurses, care staff, allied health professionals, GPs and other practitioners remain central to resident care.

Remote access can be most valuable when it extends what those teams can reach, rather than trying to substitute for the relationships and knowledge already within the home.

A more familiar environment

For some residents, being seen within their own care environment may reduce the disruption associated with an external appointment.

They remain in a familiar room, surrounded by staff who know them, with the option for appropriate team members or family to be involved.

That does not make every consultation suitable for remote delivery, but it can create another pathway where remote care is clinically and practically appropriate.

The technology should stay in the background

Healthcare technology can easily become the focus of an interaction.

Feelspace CARE is designed around the opposite principle: the professional and the resident should remain the focus.

If the platform is doing its job well, the conversation matters more than the hardware.
